Here at Liskeard Eventide Home Ltd we believe it is important to keep life interesting, to keep minds and bodies working, and to provide lots of different experiences for our residents. We have weekly games of bowling, quoits, and quizzes all provided by our dedicated Activities Co-Ordinator Demelza. There are also Movie Nights, Cocktail events, and once a week we operate a Shop Trolley which sells sweets, chocolate, mints and toiletries to our residents.
As well as weekly activities, we also bring in outside entertainers who perform a variety of shows for our residents incorporating singers, drummers, music therapists, Music Maker, The Hugs Foundation, and Plymouth University (see below for some photos of previous entertainment). We even host a Pantomime at Christmas! We also have lots of interactive entertainment for those who do not wish to take part in group activities.
Our groundsman does a fine job of creating displays in our front garden celebrating annual events such as Easter, Remembrance Day and Christmas, along with special events such as our late Queens Platinum Jubilee, and the Coronation of King Charles III. We encourage our residents to participate in the planning and production of these displays, and also in the planting and upkeep of the flowers and plants on our grounds.
We have a Podiatrist who visits on a monthly basis, and every Thursday our resident hairdresser Lee utilises our purpose built salon where she can provide a shampoo and set, a cut, perms, highlights/tinting, and also mens cut/barbering services. (See below for photos of the salon and the grand opening by our then eldest resident, on her 108th Birthday). Please note that these services do incur an additional charge.
Additionally, whilst we respect all religious denominations, we hold a Holy Communion once a month in our residents lounge, or if preferred a private Holy Communion can be held in a residents bedroom. We also hold an Easter Service and a Christingle Service for those residents wishing to attend.
